Our 21st anniversary concert was held Oct 13th at Cannon Chapel Sanctuary, Emory University. It featured Indonesian gamelan master Darsono Hadiraharjo (Cornell University). He taught our ensemble intensively during the fall 2018 semester over a three-week residency — the first time in our history to have a master musician’s guidance for more than a few days.
Here are a couple of video excerpts:
Ketawang Panembah – an original composition of master musician Darsono Hadraharjo and is a humble prayer of gratitude to the Supreme Being.
Udan Mas – A classic piece popular in Java and used to close a performance. It means Golden Rain.
As all of our shows, this was a family-friendly event; free for children and students with Emory ID. Audience members tried out playing our instruments during the interactive session after the show.
